What does a Quality Control Inspector do?

In this exciting and senior role, you will conduct and coordinate quality control checks throughout the manufacturing process that ensure high-quality standards are met every time. 

You will conduct inspections on parts and machines of a wide and varied nature, from machined components to fabricated structures. You will also verify inspection reports and certificates, as well as lead maintenance-related initiatives, such as the calibration of measuring equipment.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this senior position is primarily responsible for conducting and coordinating various Quality Control activities throughout the manufacturing process.

Role details:
  • Full-time role, 38 hours per week between Monday - Friday;
  • Based in Brendale, QLD;
  • Some weekend and after-hours work required.

What am I bringing to the role?

You will bring an all-around understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes, which is essential in this role. You might come from a metals trade background in machining or a fabrication background. 

You will need the ability to read and interpret technical drawings to succeed in this role. You will also need a high degree of computer literacy. 

This role is varied in nature, and the following is a list of some of the skills we would love to see. Don't worry if you don't check every box though. We are happy to provide training in any of these areas that may be new to you. 

  • Fine measuring skills to tight tolerances using micrometres and like equipment;
  • Quality Inspection & audit;
  • Welding inspection (Basic);
  • Conduct in-house NDT (PT, MT);
  • Coordinate NDT sub-contractors;
  • Review reports for acceptance eg. Heat treatment, NDT, Paint. 

You will importantly have leadership experience and strong communication skills that allow you to interact effectively with a diverse group of people at all levels of the business.
